Capturing, Preserving, and Sharing Our History

Throughout the months leading up to the Centennial Jubilee, the West Mayfield Centennial Committee is hosting community-oriented opportunities to collect and preserve historical artifacts, oral histories, and memories related to the Borough’s first 100 years.

Bring your old photos, paper documents, maps, and other objects to be photographed and scanned by our historical preservation team. Share your favorite stories about growing up and living in the borough with our oral historians.

If you’d like to help capture, preserve, and share West Mayfield history or lend a hand in some other way to the Centennial Committee, please contact us:

Share Your West Mayfield History With Us

Did you ever jump in the ash pile, build a fort in the woods, swim in the crick, play ball down in the park, visit Mrs. Calhoun’s candy store, buy cigs at Jake’s Dairy, eat at the Corner Tavern, risk your life on the swings at West Park Elementary, run home when the fire whistle blew, smell the coal furnaces on frosty winter mornings, or hear the pipes clanging all night from the mill?

What was it like growing up in West Mayfield?

What stores, bars, churches, and schools do you remember?

Who are the most memorable borough residents?
