Chris Lemmon Appointed New Code Enforcement Officer

Chris Lemmon portraitAt its February 2015 meeting, borough council welcomed Chris Lemmon as West Mayfield’s new code enforcement officer.   Mr. Lemmon takes over the job from Dawna Pella, who vacated her position by mutual decision with borough officials.

Mr. Lemmon, who resides in Beaver, is a 28 year veteran of the Beaver County Housing Authority.  While with that agency, Mr. Lemmon specialized in housing rehabilitation programs and code enforcement issues.   He is a North Sewickley native and graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in economics.

“Code enforcement is a about maintaining the borough’s quality of life,” Mr. Lemmon says of his duties.  He does not intend to seek out code violations for the sake of punishing residents who don’t comply with the law.  Rather, he sees his job as primarily educating residents about borough ordinances and then providing them with an opportunity to remedy situations.  Of course, he is fully authorized by the borough to enforce its ordinances through legal action, if necessary.

“When residents understand and comply with our borough ordinances,” Mr. Lemmon says, “West Mayfield will continue to be a well maintained, cleaner and safer place to live.”

To report code violations, residents are advised to contact councilperson Michelle McNeely at 724-601-6907 or use the borough’s online Citizen Comment form.
